INVESTITURE OF PATRONS, MAY 14, 2021

The outgoing President of Abeokuta Sports Club, Deacon Atilade Bolarinwa, FCA, has described the Club as the number one Cosmopolitan and recreational centre of activities in the whole of Nigeria.

Deacon Atilade made the statement during the Club’s Investiture of Chief Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, GCFR, and Sir Kesington Adebutu, CON, KJW, FISM, as Patrons of Abeokuta Sports Club on Friday, May 14, 2021, at the Abeokuta Sports Club, Ibara Abeokuta.

Deacon Atilade pointed out that the oldest Club in Nigeria, ASC, had always been a beacon of development and peaceful coexistence among foreigners and Nigerians, adding that the Club offered the Colonial masters of the past years, missionaries, professionals and civil servants large opportunities to relax after their days job.

He said that since it was founded in 1904, the Club has been paying its dues to the welfare of members and the community at large in prolonging their lives due to adequate exercise through sports and relaxation.

Atilade further appreciated his Vice, Dr Dayo Akibo, for his loyalty and support, and all members of ASC, as well as the elders in the Club for the special roles they played even at their age.

The outgoing President assured that the Club would continue to recognise global achievers and they would continue to multiply.

He appreciated the new Patrons, Chief Obasanjo as well as Hon. Adebutu, who according to him, had done so many great things in the Club and is continuing to do more.

Atilade added that the ASC was proud to have such highly revered icons as Patrons of the oldest Club in Nigeria.

He also congratulated the new President-elect, Mr. Olusola Egbesola, who is the outgoing Club’s Treasurer, adding that he had always been a man of integrity and hardwork.
